As a trainee in the Army Civilian Career Program for Engineering Technology, you will utilizes the basic principles of the applicable engineering technology to perform the less complex phases of planning, design, and support of the technical surveying staff. The position is located at Corps of Engineer District, Walla Walla, WA.
Position(s) will be filled under the Department of the Army Recent Graduates Program.
The Department of the Army Recent Graduates Program affords developmental experiences in the Department of Army intended to promote possible careers in the civil service to individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs. Successful applicants are placed in a dynamic, developmental program with the potential to lead to a civil service career in the Federal Government.
After Program completion, Department of the Army Recent Graduates MAY be converted to a permanent position.
To be eligible for conversion to a permanent or term position, Recent Graduates must:
oSuccessfully completed at least 1-year of continuous service in addition to all requirements of the Program.
oDemonstrate successful job performance.
oMeet the Office of Personnel Management's qualifications for the position to which the Recent Graduate will be converted.

Positions are open to:
oRecent graduates who have completed, within the previous two years, a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution.

DUTIES:

oPrepare design drawings from detailed sketches. Update project drawings using Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) systems to reflect changed conditions or as-built.
oPrepare GIS maps and exhibit drawings from discussions with technical staff.
oWork from marked-up prints, sketches, formal and informal notes, discussions with engineers and technical staff and actual observation and analysis of existing conditions.
oScan and update a variety of existing drawings.
oResearch and provide drawings, contracts, design memos, reports, slides, photographs and project files for Project, District, Division and HDC staffs.
oAnalyze drawings to determine the proper drawing required for the specific purpose, the view or slide that most accurately illustrates the module or feature queried, and any other support documents required.
oOperate and perform day-to-day upkeep maintenance of printers, plotters, and survey equipment.
oResearch engineering drawing database and computerized index.
oPrepare field support for technical survey staff.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

General Experience/Minimum
Qualifications: To qualify, applicants must possess or possess within three months completion of in at least an Associates Degree in Engineering, Surveying and Mapping, and Geographic Information System (GIS) technology.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, and abilities) in the following areas:
oAbility to use Office Automation/Software
oAbility to operate engineering specific programs/systems/software
oAbility to provide engineering technical support



Only degrees from an accredited college or university recognized by the Department of Education are acceptable to meet positive education requirements or to substitute education for experience. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
