POSITION PURPOSE The Accounting Coordinator - Receivables has the responsibility for various accounting functions within the Business Office, including accounting for student accounts and loan programs, including receipting and disbursement of funds.
HIRING SALARY RANGE Successful applicants can expect to start between $45,000 and $47,750.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES Process receipts to accounts receivable and departmental payments; balance cash daily; and prepare related bank deposits.
Maintain the Perkins loan program including payments, deferments and cancellations.
Coordinates with the financial aid office on issues affecting student accounts.
Complete reconciliation of gifts; enrollment; admission and student account credit card payments; electronic funds transfers; and various other account deposits.
Assist the Manager of Student Accounts with all other functions such as deposits, refunds, billing, payment plan contracts, and application of financial aid, etc.
Update federal funds selections for students receiving federal funds who are eligible for refunds.
Update account authorizations for students, for FERPA compliance.
Monitor Perkins federal loan programs for collection action and related service agency monthly reports.
Review off-campus housing rentals accounts and prepare necessary refunds at termination of rental agreements.
Prepare and submit the 1098-T and 1098-E tax forms.
Reconcile various bank accounts monthly.
Liaise for campus departments on credit card processing and reconciliations.
Reconcile various monthly credit card settlements.
Complete additional hours and possible weekend work as necessary during registration periods.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with college constituencies, vendors and other agencies.
Establish and maintain exemplary customer service and fiscal accountability as it relates to all functions within the department.
Demonstrate a strong knowledge of procedures with attention to detail and processing cycles.
Perform office procedures necessary to the position with a high level of accuracy and reasonable efficiency.
Ability to effectively prioritize workflow and effectively manage interruptions.
Ability to integrate the College's core values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism into interactions, processes and decision making.
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of software applications, spreadsheets and word processing.
Ability to understand complex processes.
Knowledge and/or ability to learn and interpret loan program regulations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Associate's degree in accounting OR two years of accounting experience PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in business or accounting.
